The rural bus network has progressively shrunk in recent years at the same time as rising costs are putting car ownership beyond the means of more and more rural families.
It is not right that those in the countryside should have to put up with non-existent public transport as well as poor internet and mobile phone services.
We must make more funds available for community-run bus services and keep up the pressure on providers to roll out superfast broadband and good mobile phone services to all rural subscribers.
