Dear Neighbour
Like many of you, I have become very concerned about the potential landfill and construction waste recycling centre that could be built at Greenway.
The current application looks like it will massively increase the number of HGV movements in the Braid Park area, Sampford Peverell, Uplowman, and Halberton. In addition to the obvious dangers, particularly to children, these HGVs in residential areas will also bring significant noise, dust, odour, vibrations, and tonnage to our roads.
Devon County Council’s Planning Committee will decide the application in due course. While raising some valid issues, I was concerned that our other local planning authority, Mid Devon, has unfortunately given the following official response to the public consultation: “Mid Devon District Council would still wish to maintain its position of not formally objecting.” This feels very weak as a response, and it seems that the new administration at Phoenix House has not really been listening to the many voices that have objected to the proposal both formally and at public meetings.
With this in mind, I have looked at new ways to make ourselves heard and have decided to start a petition to the House of Commons. This petition will raise this issue to Government Ministers, who can stop this application.
Please consider you, your family and friends supporting this process by signing our petition. Officially, it is on behalf of residents of Mid Devon, so please do not ask anyone who is not a resident of Mid Devon to sign.
